About Abbots Farm Friends (AFF)
Fundraising for the benefit of every child at Abbots Farm Infant School.
AFF is a charity run entirely by volunteers who give whatever time they can spare to help plan and run social and fundraising events for the school. We are a friendly, enthusiastic team and we always welcome anybody that can contribute some time, ideas or energy.
Everybody is welcome to our meetings; parents, grandparents, family members, school staff and members of the community. Meetings are usually held in the evenings every 4 – 6 weeks at school.
Our meetings are friendly and informal. We discuss and plan events and activities to support the school and your children within it.
In recent years AFF funds have been spent on the outdoor classroom, outside play equipment, school trips and the year 2 leavers disco.
You may like to join the committee or just volunteer to help out at events. We need lots of people to make each event a success. We ask volunteers to do simple jobs such as distributing letters and posters, shopping for events (with AFF money of course!), manning a stall at the fayre, or serving refreshments. Some people design posters, paint faces, count money, sweep the floor – anything and everything that makes an event successful.
The dates of our meetings and events are published in the school newsletters.
I have made some great friends through AFF and I know other people have too. It is a great feeling to organise a successful event and know that the money raised is used to provide “extras” that all the children benefit from.
Reminder: The closing date for school places for Reception and Year 3 is Monday 15th January.
This is what is happening over the next couple of weeks:
Friday 12th January: Family phonics starts for Reception
Tuesday 16th January: Little Scarecrows Mother & Toddler group starts in the hall from 9:30 – 11:00.
Thursday 18th January: Bumble Bees Assembly in the hall at 9:05.
