Faye Padfield – Chair of Governors
Faye has been a governor at Abbots Farm Infant and Preschool since September 2012, previously holding the roles of parent governor, vice chair and chair of the resources committee. Faye has two children, one attending the neighbouring junior school and one now attending secondary school.
Faye is a Research Project Officer at the University of Warwick and is currently managing a large international conference and exhibition and doctoral training centre. Her skills include strategic planning, event management, website content design and maintenance, report writing, data analysis, social media marketing and budgetary management.
Lewis Vaughan – Vice Chair
Lewis has been a governor since September 2018 and has so far been involved in communication and finance work streams. Lewis has 2 children, one of which is leaving the Infants this year and another that will start reception in September 2019.
Lewis is a business manager at McKesson UK, based in Coventry. He has worked in the healthcare industry since leaving university in 2004, initially working for a large pharmaceutical company in a number of roles including patient access to medicines. His current company cover a range of areas including distribution of medicines, Lloyds Pharmacy network and Clinical Homecare.
Lewis hopes to use the skills he has acquired from business to help support the school in budgeting, commercial awareness and project management.
Paul Ormsby - Co-opted Governor
Paul our Health & Safety Governor at Abbots Farm Infant School. Previously his own children went to the AFIS and enjoyed their time there. He decided to become a governor to support the school in delivering outstanding education.
Paul is currently employed as the Head of Health of Safety at GES EMEA based out of Coventry. His roles take him around the world, which enables him to experience different cultures.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time exploring the UK with my family.
Arti Rose - Co-opted Governor
Arti is a co-opted governor at Abbots Farm Infant School. She has no personal links to our school but enjoys the idea of “giving something back” which is the reason she volunteered.
Arti is a HR professional with over 26 years’ experience. She is currently employed by Warwickshire Police as an HR Officer based at Rugby Police Station.
Arti is married with 1 teenage son and lives in Rugby. She enjoys cooking Indian food and delights in teaching it whenever possible.

Laura Meldrum-Carter - Co-opted Governor
Laura joined the AFI Governing Board in 2019 as she wished to volunteer some of her time locally and has taken on the role of SEN Governor due to her career experience. In her professional life she is a freelance Educational Psychologist working to help children, schools and families across the Midlands. Before her doctoral training she was a primary teacher in London, Cornwall and Ecuador, with a special interest in Early Years. She is used to analysing information, data and problem-solving a wide range of situations relating to education. As well as interests in coaching and emotional wellbeing, she has significant experience supporting staff and school systems and fully appreciates the importance of a positive school culture in offering high quality learning for all our children.
Laura lives in Hillmorton and is married with two sons, one at AFJS and a toddler, both of whom keep her very busy!
Amber Merrick-Potter – Co-opted Governor
Amber joined as a co-opted governor at Abbots Farm Infant in 2018 . Amber has two children, one of which is in year 1 and the other who has just started the Caterpillars pre-school.
Amber is currently the Events Manager at St Andrew’s Church, Rugby, where she leads on community engagement, town centre redevelopment and championing sustainability. Subsequent to this Amber the Vice-Chair of a local charity the Cotesbach Educational Trust. Amber has over 15 years’ experience working with educational and cultural charities, as a change facilitator, project manager and as a successful fund raiser.
Amber is a passionate about the outdoors and the environment, and with her family runs regular forest school, foraging and nature engagement sessions.
Nick Morrott – Co-opted Governor
Nick has been a governor at Abbots Farm Infant School since September 2019, and is a member of the Pay Committee. He has a strong STEM background and has worked for global and UK-based companies in Technology Assurance and Business Technology Consultancy.
Nick is a STEM Ambassador in the West Midlands and runs a weekly Code Club session at RugbyLibrary as part of the national Code Club initiative. These sessions provide an introduction to computer programming for children aged 9-13 from across Rugby, using Scratch, Python and HTML/CSS. As a volunteer at The National Museum of Computing (TNMoC) at Bletchley Park, Nick has worked to restore exhibits to working order for the benefit of museum patrons.
Nick promotes the adoption of Open Standards, Open Source Software, and Open Data, and sees great potential for their use in education. In addition to contributing to various software projects, he is a Debian Developer and since 2009 has organised a monthly technology user group in Rugby which meets to discuss all aspects of Linux and FOSS.
As a result of his employment and volunteering experiences, Nick continues to develop skills which include software development, technology integration, project/event management, and financial/data analysis.
Nick is married with a cat and two children, and lives locally.
